These words came alive for me following Vatican II. Christ left the entire creation in our keeping. Unless we follow Christ's example we cannot hope to build a better world. Would have been about the time Amy and Jaime were born. Though the encyclical. Mystical Body of Christ was known many years prior.
Teresa of Avila said
Christ has no body now on earth but ours,
no hands, but ours,
no feet, but ours,
Ours are the eyes through which to view
Christ's compassion,
Ours are the feet with which
He is to go about doing good,
Ours are the hands with which He Blesses Us, Now.
Perhaps we need spend less time worshipping Jesus,
which He never wanted,
and start Emulating Jesus
for which he pleads
despite the mandate of the Hierarchy
